Master & Ph.D Master and PhD Positions in Physical Electrochemistry

at Max-Planck-Institute for Iron Research in Germany

The Max-Planck-Institute for Iron Research is an institute of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft with a traditional research focus on iron, steel, alloys and related materials. The essential objective of the institute is to gain an improved understanding of the complex physical processes and chemical reactions of materials. The Department for Interface Chemistry and Surface Design mainly focuses on chemical reactions and physical properties of surfaces and interfaces with particular emphasis on stability and functional properties of coatings on structural materials.

The focus of the positions in the newly founded electrocatalysis group of the department is on physical electrochemistry, corrosion processes, degradation mechanism of electrode materials and applications such as fuel cells.

We are seeking strongly motivated and highly qualified candidates majoring in chemistry or physics. Experience in electrochemistry, heterogeneous catalysis and material science is beneficial, but not a prerequisite; a good knowledge of English, however, is mandatory. The Max-Planck-Institute offers an international, interdisciplinary, and technically state-of-the-art environment; an exciting opportunity for open-minded and creative PhD students.
