Ph.D 3 PhD Positions in Development Economics

at University of Göttingen in Germany

The Development Economics Research Group (DERG) at the University of Göttingen invites
applications for up to
3 Doctoral Positions in Development Economics
The positions are available from June 2010, and will be paid according to the TV-L 13 salary
scale.
The doctoral students will be able to participate in the Ph.D. program of the faculty and,
depending on their interest and expertise, are encouraged to contribute to on-going research
projects in the DERG. Apart from research, some participation in teaching is also expected.
Successful candidates are expected to hold a superior MA, Diplom or equivalent in
economics or a closely related field. Given the empirical focus of the DERG, we are
particularly seeking candidates with strengths in econometrics and empirical analysis, as well
as with prior exposure to development economics. Since the operating language of the
DERG and all research activities is English, candidates should be fluent in English.
The University of Göttingen is placing particular emphasis on fostering career opportunities
for female scientists and scholars and therefore strongly encourages qualified women to
apply. As part of its gender equality concept, the University of Göttingen provides special
support to ease the compatibility of career and family. In cooperation with the city of
Göttingen and the non-university research institutions, the University of Göttingen offers a
dual career service. Disabled persons with equivalent aptitude for the position will be
favoured.
Complete applications should include the following PDF documents: cover letter, CV
including references, transcript from MA/Diplom program and a sample of written work or a
research proposal.
These documents should be sent by March 31, 2010 by press at Apply.
