Scholarship Description

The School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Sydney has been awarded an Australian Research Council Industrial Transformation Training Centre. The key objectives are the development and production of nutraceuticals for the prevention and treatment of chronic and acute diseases such as cancers, osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases. Applications should be emailed to Professor Fariba Dehghani and must include: 1) Covering letter explaining why you are motivated to work in this research field. 2) A detailed CV, including a publications list and highlights of research experiences/projects; 3) An academic transcript for all undergraduate and postgraduate results (include an explanation of the grading system used); 4) Industrial experience 5) Contact details for two academic referees; 6) Evidence of adequate English language proficiency for international applicants; for example, an IELTS average of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0.

Availability
This scholarship is offered once only to 13 people. Open for applications until June 20, 2014.

Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is AUD30745 (maximum per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 years, reviewed annually.

Research Information
This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: AGRICULTURAL, VETERINARY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES, BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES, Biotechnology, CHEMICAL SCIENCES, MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES, Other biological sciences or SCIENCEGENERAL.

Eligibility
This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent, Honours 2a or equivalent, or Masters or equivalent. There are no restrictions on citizenship.

Amount awarded
Funding is valued at $30,745 per annum, up to three years, subject to satisfactory progress.
