Monash University and the Plastics and Chemicals Industries Association (PACIA) have received a State Government grant, and support directly from industry to help grow and strengthen innovation potential in the chemicals and plastics industry via the Chemicals and Plastics Innovation Network and Training Centre.

Monash is looking for the BEST of the BEST graduates in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Materials Engineering/Science.

The opportunity on offer is through a new Graduate Research Interdisciplinary Program (GRIP) at Monash.

Integral to your PhD you will:

  • take up an industry challenge PhD topic with enhanced support and exclusive training in both advanced technical and business topics delivered jointly with industry;
  • work with national and international industry focussing on an innovation agenda for long term sustainability and economic growth;
  • undertake an internship, mentored by exceptional industry leaders and top academic researchers at Monash;
  • be awarded a tax free scholarship (3 year tenure full-time, $25,392 p.a. 2014 rate).

_Please note that the program is tuition fee-free for domestic students. International students are required to pay tuition fees, but may be supported by a tuition-fee scholarship to cover this cost. _

Application and entry requirements

Applications are sought from students with a H1 (first class or equivalent) honours degree (or equivalent) in a range of relevant disciplinary areas such as, but not limited to, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science. Applicants will also need to meet the University’s minimum English language proficiency requirements for admission to the PhD program.

  2. Step 2: Complete the Expression of Interest below and receive an invitation to apply. Please note that without an ‘invitation to apply’ you cannot proceed to the next step.
  3. Step 3: Register and apply online
    Both domestic and international applicants apply through this portal.
  4. Step 4: Accept your offer

The first round of applications for the PhD program under GRIP close on the 31st of October, 2014.

Please note that the application rounds for the Monash University Postgraduate Research Scholarship Scheme close on 31 May and 31 October each year.
